With the help of funding from Naked Wines, Jen is making wines the way she wants. This is a huge win for all involved, since Jen took home the Wine Society's Young Winemaker of the Year Sommelier's Choice Award in 2009!
One of Jen's favourite things about being a Naked winemaker is chatting with you, the people who drink her wines. So go ahead! Ask her anything.
Before she made wines for Naked, Jen earned her family's winery a 5 Star rating from James Halliday and her meticulous approach ensures she will bring the very best out of all the grapes that she works with.
Boy (Adrian) meets Girl (Rebecca) are on the ride of their lives raising their family while living and breathing their other passion - wine! As one of the first teams to hop aboard the Naked train in 2012, they continue to amaze, inspire and fill our glasses with glorious wines.
The pair have been involved in winemaking for over 15 years and always dreamt of making their own wine. Now, thanks to the backing of Naked Angels, they're finally living the dream! Their wine is dedicated to their family, and of course any Angel who has helped make it all possible.
In just 8 high-paced years, the couple have gone from producing a handful of Pinot Noir cases to quenching the thirst of 1000's of people around the country. Since 2012, they've sold more than 2 million bottles and won 10 trophies, 47 Gold medals, 53 Silver medals and 120 Bronze. Wow!
Adam Barton began his winemaking journey largely as a result of tasting a glass of the 1965 Lindemans Hunter River Burgundy, which he described as "magic". He was already a master craftsman when we found him, creating tiny amounts of his own premium label wines and winning big at the wine shows.
Based in the Clare Valley, Adam has the freedom to explore different variteals and keep pushing the boundaries of experimentation to the delight of Angels' taste buds. We knew from the start he was a wine genius and Angels would love him!
Adam's Rabbit & Spaghetti range of wines are snapped up by Angels, year in, year out. Carefully selected vineyards, passionate grower partners & lots of care and attention to the smallest detail in the winery make them an amazingly good drop.
Having previously worked for McWilliams, Orlando and Giesen, Rob has bucket-loads of experience and is excited to use this knowledge to make wines under his very own label. What's more, his winery was recently rated 5-stars by top wine critic, James Halliday.
Each wine Rob creates draws on his incredible international experience... he's been everywhere a winemaker could want to work - Burgundy, Tuscany, Napa Valley, Niagara Peninsula and even the magical Marlborough.
Born and bred in the NSW Riverina region and nominated for young winemaker of the year in 2008, Rob has access to some seriously amazing fruit. He's thrilled to be living the dream - making wines exclusively for Angels!
Geoff loves everything about wine... the vineyards, the winemaking process, the people and food & wine together. Wine is Geoff's passion, it's his creative science and it all starts in the vineyard!
He has been a winemaker for 14 years, working for others which allowed Geoff to fine tune his craft but now is the time for him to be able to drive his own wine styles and offer them to Angels.
It's no secret that Shiraz is Geoff's favourite varietal but he is always chasing varietal definition and balance in all of his wines. The key for him is to provide the value proposition at all price points.
Both Anna and Derek are super experienced having made wine in Bordeaux and Rhone just to name a couple, before landing in the same place... Mount Benson on the Limestone Coast.
Anna and Derek are really passionate about where they live. Their house is situated on top of Woakwine Range overlooking the townships of Robe, Cape Jaffa and Kingston. When vintage isn't so manic, they love listening to chill-out music in the cellar, comparing notes about the surf over the weekend and having a well earned beer at the end of a hard day's work!
Their wines are expressive of their region, and serious wines are what they specialise in (full bodied reds made in a cool climate style). Whilst the 'Obelisk' range is exclusive to the Naked Angels some other wines in their stable have already been declared Outstanding by James Halliday... they are definitely a couple to look out for.
Born and bred in the Upper Hunter Valley, Ash worked in local vineyards while helping to establish his Family Vineyard.
He's one of the most passionate people we've ever met! When asked what he loved most about his job, his answer was "Everything! I love the action during vintage and the progression of grapes becoming a bottle to enjoy. I love the diversity and the abstract thinking you can put into creating a wine product. I also love the diversity of the people that work in the industry and how winemaking makes me feel complete in my life".
Ash's grapes are from organic vineyards and are made using fully certified organic practices.
Ben Gould is a winemaker from WA with 20 vintages under his belt. He started in the vineyard and has done every level of job there is.
Named in the Gourmet Traveller WINE magazine in the best of the best for 2011, and Gourmet Traveller class of 2011 Top Ten. Max Allen went on to review Ben's wines as "... released a swag of wines that blew me away".
Ben's wines are sourced from both his own vineyards and conventional vineyards across Western Australia. His recent vineyard purchase in Margaret River was with Angel help and it is in the process of becoming certified organic!
Word of the burgeoning Mornington Peninsula region with its cool maritime climate piqued Kevin’s interest and, along with wife and fellow winemaker Kathleen Quealy, they extrapolated that Australia finally had the ideal home for Pinot G.
Kevin, ever the heretic, continues along the path less travelled, inspired by winemaking experiences around the globe. Kevin's winemaking family all share his passion for Italian varietals.
What does Naked mean to Kevin? The vocal and libationary support of Kevin's early customers was a key ingredient for the success of Pinot G in Australia. Direct contact prior to Naked required a visit to the winery, extolling the Pinot G message one glass at a time. Naked has transformed how Kevin interacts with PinotG lovers, allowing him to share the Heresy story with Angels while they experience the wines.
