About the wine
Elegant SA Shiraz
- Most of the grapes for this elegant drop come from the cool Mt Benson coastal region, with the rest from a unique pocket of Wrattonbully and Derek’s favourite estate grown block.
- Derek was keen to express the sensational fruit flavours and so used mainly tank fermentation with just a little kept in barrels. The result is a wonderfully aromatic plummy number with a chocolate-coated white pepper finish.
- This wine is great value and extremely reflective of the area. Using a simple winemaking style allows the high quality of the fruit to be showcased in the best fashion.
Best before
This wine while young will be fresh and vibrant, with a great fruit forward approach. If you can resist, let it age for 1-2 years and allow it to build complexity.
Serving advice
A great wine to share with family and friends. Open it early and let it breathe to really express it's true character. Take your time and savour it, or it will disappear quickly.
Food match
A great sharing wine means charcuterie boards. Local cheeses and meats are a must with all your favourite sides.

Meet the winemaker - Derek Hooper
Hooper & Co’s wines echo the pristine land they come from, the local community and pushing wine boundaries (Derek’s speciality!)
Derek’s son, Harry, splits his time between winemaking and brewing. Daughter Grace is already elbow deep in grape juice, and Daisy is a marketing specialist in the industry.
From father Kym’s first vineyard back in 1992, through Derek, to his fresh-faced, eager charges, they are one of the new families of wine. And they’re out to stir up your palate with fantastic drops with sustainability at their core.
