Shiraz overdelivering on quality
Coby Ladwig’s first-up Shiraz from Swan Valley, just outside Perth in Western Australia, showcases this outstanding and historic region and massively overdelivers on quality.
Perfect summer ripening has packed this luscious red with upfront characters of blackberries and plums that flow through to rich, smooth, voluptuous mouth filling flavours - all with a hint of spice. Yummm!
It has been crafted to enjoy now, is really approachable and a seriously good food wine - but it’ll cellar well for another 7 years too! Match it to a whole array of different dishes, from your next BBQ right through to a hearty beef curry.
Best before
Drinking well now and over the next 5-7 years. The spice will lift as it ages and the red berries will become part of the midpalate rather than upfront. It will show some more savoury characters as it approaches the 8 year mark.
Serving advice
Being a medium to full bodied Shiraz it will enjoy a little breathing prior to drinking. So crack a bottle and fire up the BBQ and once the meat is cooked then the Shiraz will be done too.
Food match
Anything that goes on the BBQ and that includes the big strips of zucchini and capsicum grilled on high heat. I've had it with beef curries and it works well. The spice of the curry and the richness of the Shiraz compliment well.
