Vintages in California, Burgundy and Australia, and 10 years making wine for one of the leading estates in Marlborough, have seen Mike working with some of the world's best winemakers and vineyards. And it's had a profound influence on his winegrowing philosophy.
Wanting the freedom to make wine in his own name, Mike found the opportunity to get Naked too hard to ignore. No longer at the mercy of big brands and wholesalers, he could finally create wines his own way that celebrated the influence of human touch and the relationship between friends, growers, fruit and season. And, unique to Naked Wines, to find out what the people who drank it thought of it.
Mike's aim has always been to showcase his beloved region. "Our ambition with Lay of the Land wines is to represent the pureness of Marlborough's striking landscape, but with balance and texture and in turn immeasurable drinkability." The fact that the wines have attracted international awards is just a bonus!

Growing up on a vineyard, Paul thought was destined to be a grower, but a study trip to France changed all that. The history, passion and romance of winemaking lit a fire in his belly and he changed course. A winemaking degree and vintages around the world followed, as he honed his delicious craft.
In 2009, he took the leap out on his own, and within 4 years had bought the oldest winery in Denmark, WA. His sublime wines raised eyebrows in esteemed wine circles and earned him a Top 10 Best New Wineries listing. But his volumes were small - he needed more grapes and a bigger audience. In short, he needed Naked Wines.
And so in 2015, Paul came on board and went from producing just 40 cases of sensational handmade wine to thousands as Angels clamoured for more. He’s now grown big enough to add one of the oldest vineyards in Mt Barker to his fold (signalling more Nelson goodies to come!).

Rod is one of the most respected winemakers in New Zealand. He left top NZ wine label Craggy Range to chart his own course and make wines just for us. And he's never looked back.
He loves the freedom to make wines directly for enthusiastic Angels and looks forward to their feedback on every wine. Their support has allowed him to buy his own vineyard and winery to give his wines a home and live more sustainably.
Rod’s aim is to give Angels a slice of his unique corner of NZ, in a glass. He knows all the best growers and where their grapes are hiding, so only the best make it into his wines!

Born and raised in Coonawarra, SA, Luke makes sensational wines that shout of his 'terra rossa' region, injecting his own vision and personality along the way. He's won numerous awards including 7 trophies, dozens of phenomenal Halliday ratings and a place in the Top 50 Young Guns of Wine.
As a kid, he earned his pocket money helping out in the family vineyards. It wasn’t long before he was bitten by the wine bug, and a degree plus vintages in South Australia and Sonoma (USA) soon followed. Ready to make his mark, he returned to the family business to develop drops alongside his Dad, local legend Patrick.
But in 2013, Patrick suddenly passed away, leaving the family bereaved and the winery without its chief winemaker and CEO. Not even 30 yet, Luke had to shoulder a ton of extra responsibility if the business was to continue. So Angels stepped in and gave Luke the assurance to continue his family legacy and keep making the wine he loves - which he does to this day.

Brought up in the southern wilds of Western Australia, Coby spent endless hours amongst the vineyards where his Mum worked. It was no surprise he was headed for the winemaking life! With a degree under his belt, he returned to his hometown “to seek out the very best, small sub-region sites to make exceptional single-vineyard wines that can compete with the best in the world.”
Over the next sixteen years, he used his silky winemaking skills to help the stunning West Cape Howe, Singlefile and Rockcliffe wineries earn 5-Star ratings from wine critics far and wide. And in 2017, he earned a Top 50 spot on the highly regarded Young Gun of Wine list.
