About the wine
Born in France, perfected in Aus!
- QLD and NSW came together in harmony for this tantalising blend. Grapes from the high-altitude Granite Belt, QLD, and Hilltops, NSW, were allowed to ripen slowly and develop complex flavours before matchmaking in the shed.
- The Marsanne, Viognier and Roussanne grapes were field blended (grown in the same vineyard) and fermented as one to ensure the right balance of flavours, textures and aromas.
- A full-bodied, lightly-oaked wine, this is a great alternative to Chardonnay. Enjoy stone fruit and honey flavours and a delicious scent of orange blossom. Match this rich wine with richly flavoured food and enjoy the union!
Best before
Thanks to its pronounced aromas and flavours, balanced by lively acidity, this wine has the structure to be enjoyed over the next five years.
Serving advice
This wine is best enjoyed slightly warmed from the fridge, allowing its aromas and flavours to fully express their intensity.
Food match
One of my favourite pairings, inspired by our garden, is a vegetarian Sage, Brown Butter & Pumpkin Pasta Alfredo. The rich, creamy pumpkin sauce, nutty browned butter, and crisp fried sage leaves create comforting flavours that melt on the palate. A cozy, indulgent dish that comes together in under 30 minutes, it beautifully complements the wineÂ’s character.

Wine profile
Meet the winemaker - Glen Robert
- Expect the unexpected from Glen Robert at La Petite Mort. A former medical research chemist, Glen fell under wine’s spell around 2000 – and never looked back.
- In 2014, he discovered Shiraz and Viognier vines in need of some TLC in Ballandean, on Queensland’s Granite Belt. Today, the 40-hectare Bent Road property is home to vines, winery, wilderness and granite boulders, stretching along the pristine Severn River at more than 750 metres above sea level.
- It’s a surprisingly cool, continental corner of Queensland – one of the coolest growing regions in Australia – and that climate gives Glen’s wines their distinctive elegance, savoury spice and depth of flavour.
- La Petite Mort is Glen’s label – avant-garde, experimental and made for curious drinkers, these are wines that happily throw the rulebook out the window. Think extended skin contact, ancestral techniques and plenty of Glen’s scientific curiosity – resulting in seriously intriguing wines for those who like their next bottle to be a little bit different.
