About the wine
36 months in the making
This wine in 3 words:
Magic: Christmas-exclusive reserve red
Taste: Cassis. Dark berries. Spice.
Food: Rib-eye. Lamb. Christmas roast.- This is one for the special occasion. Winemaker JP Marin took his time with this wine - fruit from two carefully selected McLaren Vale vineyards was left to hang a little longer for extra flavour and balance, then the finished wine was cellared for 36 months before release. It was made especially for our 2026 Christmas Collection, tasted by our wine team and Head of Wine, and selected as a very special drop. It’s exclusive to this case - and a one-off blend made for Angels.
- Big flavour, beautifully held together: Dark berries and cassis lead the way, with Petit Verdot bringing extra depth, perfume and a little quiet power. There’s subtle spice and beautifully integrated oak in the mix too. It’s rich without being heavy, with the kind of smooth, settled character you only get when a good red has had time to mature.
- The best bit? We did the waiting. Three years of careful cellaring means this is ready to go straight onto the Christmas table, with softened tannins and layers of flavour already nicely integrated. Give it up to an hour in the decanter, then pour alongside rib-eye, slow-cooked lamb, roast beef or glazed ham. It’s drinking beautifully now, or you can tuck it away for another 5–8 years.
Best before
With 36 months of careful cellaring already complete, it's drinking beautifully now while still offering the structure to reward further ageing (5-8 years).
Serving advice
For the best experience, decant for up to an hour before serving the main meat dish this Christmas lunch. This allows the layers of black fruit, cedar and spice to fully unfold, revealing the elegance developed through 36 months of maturation.
Food match
This wine is made for slow-cooked, richly flavoured dishes. My favourite pairing is a chargrilled rib-eye steak with roasted garlic and rosemary potatoes, but it's equally at home alongside slow-braised lamb shanks, beef cheeks or a mature cheddar. It also makes the perfect Christmas table red—whether you're serving roast beef, glazed ham or a slow-roasted leg of lamb. Rich dark fruit, savoury notes and refined tannins make it a wine that brings people together over a memorable meal.

Wine profile
Meet the winemaker - James-Paul Marin
- JP’s stellar career reaches back to 2000, but he almost walked away when corporate constraints became too much. Now, given a second chance by Angels, he’s walking to the beat of his own drum while crafting the boutique, cool-climate wines he loves.
- Extensive experience in the industry means JP has forged strong relationships that help him secure grapes from award-winning Aussie vineyards. Without being tied to one location, he’s able to select premium fruit that ensures every Enfant Terrible drop reflects the best that its vintage has to offer.
- As environmental advocate, JP handcrafts his wines using minimal intervention and sustainable techniques. Through SeedTheChange, he plants a tree for every case of wine sold – a mission that’s brilliant for Angels and for the Earth!
