Market Price
Angels save money compared to Market Price...
Our market price is what you’d actually have to pay for this wine at an old-fashioned retail store.
It’s based on the price of similarly rated benchmark bottles on the market.
We test these market prices every vintage with blind tasting panels, to make sure they’re honest and accurate.
If you buy one of our wines and disagree with the Angel Price, we’ll add a credit to your account.

About the wine
Limited edition food-loving delight!
- If you’re after a white that looks and drinks like a food-friendly European wine, this is it! ‘Verdi’ in Italy means ‘green’, which also refers to the herbal green characters of this variety (and Bart’s love of nature!)
- Sourced off a small block in the north-west part of Victoria, this is a super limited edition drop. It’s been given the kid-glove treatment all the way - natural yeast fermentation, aged on lees and hand-bottled by Bart himself.
- Treat yourself to a unique experience - light to medium-bodied on the tongue and tasting like a lemony roll in the hay. This varietal has gone under the radar for some time but could have a big future here given our climate and lifestyle.
Best before
Although delicious now, a little time in bottle will draw out those savoury and textural characters while toning down the herbal lifted notes. Also depends on how you like to drink your wines, whether it be fresh and zesty, or more mellow and round. Given the vintage and makeup of this variety, IÂ’d suggest it would age up to 3-5 years if cellared well and you can resist just drinking it now!
Serving advice
The BVO Beminde Verdicchio is designed to be drunk well chilled highlighting the herbaceous zesty attributes of this variety. Given the dry warm vintage, they wine has delicious fruit and volume to balance all that verve and freshness on the palate.
Food match
Drink it like youÂ’re sitting by the sea, great with natural oysters, fried green peppers (Pimientos de Padron), spaghetti vongole, calamari fritti or kingfish carpaccio just to name a fewÂ…

Wine profile
Meet the winemaker - Bart Van Olphen
- Bart van Olphen’s wine journey is totally unique. Born and raised among the windmills and tulips of his native Holland, he learned his winemaking craft in Germany’s Pfalz region, honed it in the USA, handmade mighty reds alongside the legend that is Steve Pannell for eight years in McLaren Vale before settling in Victoria.
- Bart is married to Kim Chalmers of the famed Chalmers vineyards and it’s from these excellent family-grown grapes that he sources the most delectable, pristine fruit to power his Angel-exclusive B.V.O range of deliciousness!
- Bart is very much a minimal interventionist winemaker: grow the best fruit, let it talk and stay hands off as much as possible. And with the huge array of Chalmers grapes available to choose from Bart is like a kid in a candy store!
