About the wine
Authentic blend crafted using traditional methods in Frances picturesque Rhone Valley!
-
Five years ago, Ashley Horner, our talented Hunter Valley winemaker, was selected by Angels to create the first vintage of this wine as a ‘Winemaker Fantasy’ project, and it was eagerly snapped up, scoring rave reviews from Angels. Superb now, delectable down the line - we recommend not limiting yourself to a single bottle!
-
“It is a GSM, Grenache 45%, Syrah 45%, Mourvedre 10%, so made to drink very well early on,” shares Ash. “It will cellar at least 5-8 years, and is under cork.”
-
Compared to the last blend, this vintage has a touch more Grenache to raise the sweet cherry notes and violet aromas. “We [also] have a little more Syrah in our blend as we feel the extra tannin from the Syrah helps with the structure and cellaring of the wine,” adds Ash. “The Grenache is quite soft, the Mourvedre provides colour, dark fruit flavours and tannin structure.”
Best before
5-10 years if stored in a proper cellar
Serving advice
You will need a cork opener for this on. Decant or let the bottle breathe 30 mins before serving to help soften the tannins and relive more fruit characters- if you can wait that long!
Food match

Wine profile
Meet the winemaker - Ashley Horner
- Born and bred in the Upper Hunter Valley, Ash worked in local vineyards while helping to establish his Family Vineyard.
- He's one of the most passionate people we've ever met! When asked what he loved most about his job, his answer was "Everything! I love the action during vintage and the progression of grapes becoming a bottle to enjoy. I love the diversity and the abstract thinking you can put into creating a wine product. I also love the diversity of the people that work in the industry and how winemaking makes me feel complete in my life".
- What's the difference between Ash and the rest? His grapes are from organic vineyards and are made using fully certified organic practices!
