About the wine
Rich, plush and beautifully balanced
-
This wine in 3 words:
Magic: Estate-grown Pyrenees Shiraz
Taste: Red fruit. Spice. Plush.
Food: Slow-roasted lamb. Roast meats. -
A Christmas Collection standout: Grown and made at five-star-rated Pyren Vineyard in the Pyrenees, this is Shiraz with plenty of personality. The 2024 vintage brought a warm finish to a cool, dry growing season, concentrating the fruit while keeping its natural freshness. It made the cut for our Christmas Collection thanks to that lovely balance of richness, elegance and drinkability.
-
This is full-bodied Shiraz, packed with ripe red fruit and plenty of depth, but it never feels heavy. A gentle wild ferment and careful handling keep the fruit bright and expressive, while French oak adds structure rather than taking over. The result is vivid, generous fruit, integrated spice and a silky palate with just enough acidity to keep you coming back for another glass.
-
Give it time to show off: It’s delicious now, but this has the structure to comfortably cellar for 10+ years. Once poured, give it a little time in the glass to open up and reveal more of what’s going on. Then settle in with a slow-roasted lamb shoulder - this is exactly the kind of red that wants a proper dinner.
Best before
This release should comfortably cellar for 10+ years

Wine profile
Meet the winemaker - Leighton Joy
- Leighton’s eyes were opened to the idea of winemaking when he started working in his father's sultana vineyard. In 1999, his father and uncle went on to establish Pyren vineyard in the beautiful Victorian Pyrenees (now a critically acclaimed winery), and his winemaking journey began.
- Before long, Leighton had racked up crates of experience and multiple medals - including the Western Victoria Wine Challenge trophy for Best Shiraz and Best Wine. But running a small business is never plain sailing and in 2015, Pyren hit a rough spot that threatened to close its doors.
- Getting Naked changed everything for Leighton as thousands of Angels came to the rescue and tripled his wine sales overnight. Today, he continues to craft single-vineyard drops from the family’s precious vines, pouring endless amounts of honesty and integrity into each bottle. And in 2020 it earned him a spot on the Top 50 Young Guns of Wine list.
