About the wine
The Shiraz that gets Angels in a frenzy is back!
- His top-selling, sky-high rated Shiraz has returned - cheers to that! Around half the fruit in this wine comes from his Father's vineyard in the Strathbogie Ranges, a cool climate region that is gives wine wonderful aromas. You'll enjoy red fruit, cocoa and pepper on the nose.
- Each sip is rich and smooth, and the berry flavours take on a lovely jube like character. This is a full bodied dry red, but with a juiciness which gives it an appealing softness. Sam's life is wine from dawn to dusk, so you know this wine is packed with all his TLC!
- Sam's the man when it comes to innovative small batch winemaking. He is a firm believer that the small batch approach produces higher quality wine with more character than simple big scale winemaking. This is the perfect wine great wine to have on hand, including for simple occasions like celebrating the end of the day.
Best before
The wine is great drinking now; but will also develop more savoury flavours over the next few years, for drinkers who like complexity over primary fruit flavours.
Serving advice
16-18C. No need to decant.
Food match
So many options for this Shiraz. There is a great wood fired pizza place in my home town of Avenel (Bank St Pizza) and they make the 'Scotty' which has pork and fennel sausage, caramelised onion and mozzarella. (Probably my favourite pizza at Bank Street!) It sounds like an odd match, but the herbal note, and that the wine isn't overblown makes this a lovely match for the fennel spice. And there is enough tannin in the wine to mop up that mildly fatty character in sausage.

Meet the winemaker - Sam Plunkett
- Winemaking legend Sam sources grapes from the family vineyard in the Strathbogie ranges of Central Victoria. Winemakers don't come much more in love with their job than him - he'd "happily spend everyday around tanks, barrels, stainless steel toys and wine".
He’s had a meteoric rise from self-taught winemaker to a multi award-winner and even has his own cellar door now! His winery was recently recognised as one of the Top 10 Dark Horse wineries in James Halliday's 2021 Awards.
The backing of thousands of Naked Angels has helped pave the way for Sam to continue making the great wine he loves, exclusively for you!
