About the wine
"An absolute stunner" - Janine, Angel
- This is a stunning Chardonnay, lovingly hand-crafted from grapes carefully selected from three different vineyards. Each is 500m from La Petite Mort's cellar door, including their own block of 30-year-old Chardonnay fruit. They also sourced grapes from the Bungawarra vineyard, one of the most established vineyards in the region, with vines dating back 100 years.
- It is a classic, well rounded wine with the perfect balance of fruit and oak flavours. "It has strong stone-fruit characters," Glen shares. "It has a great lick of new, very fine French oak." That is balanced beautifully with the acidity
- Once you've cracked the top, you'll fall head-over-heels with its heady aromas of melon, peaches and toasted nuts.

Wine profile
Meet the winemaker - Glen Robert
- Expect the unexpected from Glen Robert at La Petite Mort. A former medical research chemist, Glen fell under wine’s spell around 2000 – and never looked back.
- In 2014, he discovered Shiraz and Viognier vines in need of some TLC in Ballandean, on Queensland’s Granite Belt. Today, the 40-hectare Bent Road property is home to vines, winery, wilderness and granite boulders, stretching along the pristine Severn River at more than 750 metres above sea level.
- It’s a surprisingly cool, continental corner of Queensland – one of the coolest growing regions in Australia – and that climate gives Glen’s wines their distinctive elegance, savoury spice and depth of flavour.
- La Petite Mort is Glen’s label – avant-garde, experimental and made for curious drinkers, these are wines that happily throw the rulebook out the window. Think extended skin contact, ancestral techniques and plenty of Glen’s scientific curiosity – resulting in seriously intriguing wines for those who like their next bottle to be a little bit different.
