About the wine
The mature master of Margaret River Cab!
"Delicious wine, full bodied and flavoursome but oh so smooth!" - Steve, Angel. The 2020 vintage was proudly selected as a Finalist for 2024 Wine of the Year.
This wine in 3 words:
Magic: Wine of the Year finalist
Taste: Blackcurrant, blueberry, fine spice, silky tannins
Food: Mushroom risottoCabernet Sauvignon and Margaret River are a match made in wine heaven – and the rest of the wine world knows it. With near-perfect growing conditions year in, year out, it’s no surprise Stuart hand-selected the very best local vineyard sites for this standout release. This is consistently rated in the high 90s, with the last vintage scoring 97% from wine lovers.
After spending 24 months in French oak – allowing the bolder notes to gently integrate – this labour of love emerges as a dense, beautifully balanced wine that feels complete in every way. The depth and dimension of the aromas hint at something serious and built to last. Expect layers of red and blue fruit – blueberries and blackcurrant – lifted by a subtle touch of nutty spice. Everything comes together in harmony – like the sweetest choir you’ve ever heard.
Elegant yet powerful, the wine carries exceptional length and finishes with abundant fine-grained tannins. At once brooding and introspective – then suddenly vibrant and alive – this is a Cabernet that’s sophisticated and seductive now, and destined to shine even brighter with age.
Best before
This wine does drink very nicely now, but like all great Margaret River Cabernets, it will age for 10+ years easily. I would recommend buying at least 6 bottles, trying one tonight, and then hide the rest in the cellar, and drink one every few years. It will be worth the effort.
Serving advice
Open a few hours before you think you will be drinking it. Have a small taste then, and then decant it. Leave in the decanter until it is needed at the table, and serve from there.
Food match
braised local beef shortribs, local grass fed lamb loin chops, party pies, slow cooked pork belly with chipotle sauce. All served with a lovely garden salad
Contains sulphites

Wine profile
Meet the winemaker - Stuart Pym
Stuart’s winemaking career is the stuff of legend. First bitten by the bug at his parents' little winery in Margaret River, he went on to make wines in the Yarra Valley, Geelong and Bordeaux, and study in Tuscany, Piedmonte, Burgundy, the Loire, Rioja and Priorat. So you could say he has a fair bit of experience!
He's been crafting wine in Margaret River for over 30 years now and helped put iconic wineries like Voyager Estate, Devils Lair, Stella Bella and Flowstone firmly on the map. There's nothing he loves more than growing grapes and making wine. And he's very good at it.
With the support of Naked Angels, Stuart has rediscovered his passion for hands-on production. His label, 'Hearts and Bones' tells a story of Margaret River and celebrates the Naked Angels that paved the way for him to make wine just the way he likes it.
