About the wine
One of our Angels favourites returns!
- Jen has created a spirited and approachable dry red teaming with fruit flavour. The Rebel Shiraz Durif blend is crafted with passionate detail, showing off the individual terroir elements of several fantastic Victorian wineries, including premium Durif grapes from Rutherglen (yes, the same top quality Durif from Jen's Diamond range!)
- Each parcel of grapes is soaked, fermented and pumped separately to maximise its unique character, then blended just prior to bottling. This is the moment when months of preparation pull together, showing a lovely deep maroon colour and combining aromas of ripe berries, plums and a touch of spice.
- The palate is full and flavoursome with the extra kick from the Durif, with lovely balance and great length. This is a wine that truly punches above its weight, and at a juicy bargain for Angels it's a must in the next case for any red lover. Get in quick and don't miss the chance to let your hair down like a good red head!
Best before
My Rebel Shiraz Durif is drinking beautifully now, but will mature for 7 years until 2028.
Serving advice
I recommend opening and allowing to breathe, or decanting 1-2 hours prior to serving.
Ideal serving temperature is 14-18°C.
Food match
My Shiraz Durif makes for a great barbeque buddy in the warmer months, loving the char-grilled flavours of most meats and veggies, including a homemade burger. It will also match up perfectly with slow-cooked red meat dishes as the weather gets colder, such as a beef stroganoff.
It is also fabulous with a vegetable tagine.
Contains sulphites
Wine profile
Meet the winemaker - Jen Pfeiffer
- With the help of funding from Naked Wines, Jen is making wines the way she wants. This is a huge win for all involved, since Jen took home the Wine Society's Young Winemaker of the Year Sommelier's Choice Award in 2009!
- One of Jen's favourite things about being a Naked winemaker is chatting with you, the people who drink her wines. So go ahead! Ask her anything.
- Before she made wines for Naked, Jen earned her family's winery a 5 Star rating from James Halliday and her meticulous approach ensures she will bring the very best out of all the grapes that she works with.
