Meet WA’s winemaker Coby Ladwig

Coby Ladwig didn’t grow up dreaming of wine – in fact, he hated it. Originally, he wanted to be a zoologist, but a chance encounter with an old babysitter convinced him there was no future in studying animals. Growing up around vineyards thanks to his mum, he decided to give a brand-new winemaking degree a shot – and quickly fell in love.

Today, Coby is the creative force behind some of Naked Wines’ most-loved bottles, including Chenin Blanc, Pinot Grigio and Chardonnay, known for their approachability, freshness, and drinkability. He listens closely to Angels’ feedback, experimenting with styles like his fruit-driven Gamay, freshly landed on our shelves, proving he’s all about making wines people genuinely want to enjoy.

Away from the cellar, Coby’s love for animals lives on. His 20-acre property in Denmark, WA, is home to horses, soon-to-arrive sheep and goats, and a family of stick insects for his daughter. From almost becoming a zoologist to developing a true taste for wine, Coby has found a wild life filled with grapes, animals, and wines Angels can’t stop sipping.
