Rod used to be the top winemaker at Craggy Range, one of NZ’s most awarded wineries, crafting their world famous Syrah (what we call Shiraz in Australia). New Zealand as a whole may not be known for its Syrah, but the Gimblett Gravel region, within Hawke’s Bay, produces some of the best and most expensive Syrah in the world.
Rod chose to ferment and mature his Syrah Viognier in purpose built egg shaped tanks, to develop the wines texture and mouthfeel. Intense floral aromatics and peppery influence are a Hawke's Bay trademark, and Rod has delivered in spades.
This is a truly unique and exclusive wine to Naked. It is made in tiny quantities, less than 200 cases, so you’re gonna have to be quick.
All these wines were made exclusively for, and thanks to, Naked Wines Angels. It means you probably won't recognise the labels.
So how do you know which wines to try and which to avoid?
1, Look for the green tick,
If we know enough about your tastes we'll put a green tick on wines you'll love, and a red cross on those to avoid. Simples.
2, Trust the crowd, not a stuffy wine critic,
See how many people rated the wine positively after they tried it.
3, Be a pro, use the filters,
After a big red from the Barossa with a 90% rating that costs between $10 and $15? Use the filters to narrow your search. Smarty pants.
