About the wine
A classic Californian-sourced Chardonnay, crafted by an expert
- A careful blend of four different parcels of Chardonnay grapes, handcrafted by wine expert Daryl Groom. The former chief at Penfolds selected fruit from four different vineyards in the Russian River Valley in California, each distinctly different and each delivering its own unique and valuable flavour. Gorgeous tropical fruit aromas waft out of the glass, accompanied by oak and a hint of buttered popcorn.
- This is a distinctive and classic Chardonnay, or as Daryl puts it so well, “When you smell and taste it, it says ‘I am Chardonnay.’” It’s not over the top with oak or butter flavours, nor is it lean and simple. Instead, it’s rich, full bodied and delivers great length.
- All the highest quality ingredients went into its creation - new French oak, expensive grapes from a superb region and top notch, expert winemaking. “I tried very hard to make this wine a great crowd pleaser and a wine that is best enjoyed young,” explains Daryl. We need no further invitation!

Best to drink soon after purchase but will ge nicely for 5 years or so.

Serve chilled and can open right before serving.

Meet the winemaker - Daryl Groom
- Meet Daryl.... He has been a winemaker for 35 years... with some of his wines even served at the Oscars and Emmys two years in a row!
- Working as the senior white and red winemaker at Penfolds, his 1986 Penfolds Grange was arguably one of the top 3 Granges ever made - 98 points from Wine Spectator and Robert Parker.
- Daryl LOVES making (and drinking) Shiraz... It's silky, sexy and simply delicious he says and the greatest value of all red wines.
