About the spirit
A small-batch spirit that's smooth and refined
- The thing that excites Jock Harvey most about his latest whisky release is the way it truly represents the region in which it’s produced. Bottled at 40%, this is a pale, delicate and refined single malt.
- This whisky was aged in McLaren Vale bourbon casks, which resulted in a smooth but no less complex flavour profile. Notes of vanilla and honeyed oak give this whisky a gentle sweetness and a soft, rounded palate.
- While Jock thrives on creativity when it comes to wine making and distilling, he still likes to embrace classic practices. “The name [Big Kettle Distillery] was inspired by the copper kettle still they were made in,” he explains. “It’s rare to be able to create spirits in copper these days, industrial scale gins and whiskies are made in giant stainless steel stills, which are more like a boiler, than what the old-fashioned art and magic a small copper still provides.”
Best before
This whisky will hang around for a long time, so long as it's stored well in a cool, dark place. However, we doubt it'll hang out there for long.
Serving advice
Try it neat first, then add a couple drops of water or a single ice cube to release aromas and pronounced characters.
