Market Price
Angels save money compared to Market Price...
Our market price is what you’d actually have to pay for this wine at an old-fashioned retail store.
It’s based on the price of similarly rated benchmark bottles on the market.
We test these market prices every vintage with blind tasting panels, to make sure they’re honest and accurate.
If you buy one of our wines and disagree with the Angel Price, we’ll add a credit to your account.

About the wine
Rare and powerful premium red from the Margaret River
-
Tempranillo from Margaret River is a rare thing and winemaking powerhouse Brian Fletcher's passionate approach to the 2022 vintage has resulted in a bold and beautiful wine.
-
He has create a striking red that evokes age and complexity. It's packed to the rafters with dark berries, raisin toast and a hint of vanilla - each massive mouthful hanging around long after you've finished it. It's forthright and solid, but there’s no austerity or hardness, just power.
-
Brian is a true champion of the Margaret River. He's a master of Tempranillo and his iconic El Cid shows off his winemaking prowess and the superb local fruit he's poured into it. If you like a big red, you'll adore this!
Best before
We've entered a few older vintages of Tempranillo here and there with good success. It will age very well because;
1) Good Fruit
2) Proper winemaking (no shortcuts)
3) Good oak to suit
4) Me!
Serving advice
Could stand a few hours if needed.
Food match
Something strongly flavoured. I'll go out on a limb and nominate Lamb's Fry or proper "two tooth" (almost mutton) if you can get it. If you aren't into that, then a *proper* pizza with a thin crust ( NOT floppy!) quattro fromage!
Contains sulphites
Wine profile
Meet the winemaker - Brian Fletcher
- Once the chief winemaker for Evans & Tate, Brian is one of Margaret River’s greatest treasures — and ours! In 30+ years in the business, he’s collected over 50 Trophies and 100s of medals. He works with a trusted network of exceptional local growers who guarantee him the best fruit. “They're as important to the process as anything,” he says. “ It’s their grapes you are drinking and I’m the translator.”
- He’s also a wizz in European wine production, earned through back-breaking vintages in old wineries in Italy and Tunisia. In fact, it was during Brian’s 5-year stint in Italy that he truly found his wine feet and decided there was no other life for him.
- Even with a resume like his, getting Naked in 2012 was a big deal for Brian. It meant he could create his own wines in his own name and share them with big-hearted wine lovers like you. And the direct connection to chat with you is the icing on the cake!
